CHOC Teen Room
Heels2Heal Orange County has choosen to sponsor the CHOC Teen Room in the new Bill Holmes tower of CHOC. We feel that often times we forget that teens are also a huge part of CHOC and we wanted to bring attention to the needs of the teens at CHOC by focusing our attention on this room. The room is a parent free zone for teenagers to just be themselves. They can come kick their feet up and read a book, watch a movie or battle it out on the ping pong or air hockey tables.
The Heels2Heal OC Teen Room is located directly across from the newly opened Seacrest Studios. CHOC’s Teen Room promises to provide a teen specific space dedicated to supporting comprehensive, innovative programs that assist teens coping with and adjusting to the hospital environment and help meet their developmental, social, emotional and psychological needs. “Adolescence is such an important and healthy stage of life. For teens and young adults whose lives have been derailed by cancer, we are trying to recreate and provide an environment in which they can survive, gather strength and transition into adulthood,” Leonard Sender, M.D., Medical Director, CHOC Children’s Cancer Institute.
The Heels2Heal OC Teen Room will have its grand opening in July 2013 and we would love your support. Please see the link below for the items that we are looking to get for the room. We are also looking for fun, creative activities to host monthly in the Teen Room. If you have a service to offer we would love to hear from you?! We have the following activities lined up, private painting class and a private cooking class. We are looking for a few sports themed activities, for example, we would love a professional athlete to come visit the Teen Room and sign autographs. If you have any other ideas, please let us know. Please feel free to contact us at anytime, if you have any questions or comments regarding the needs for this room. We are available at 714-974-7336.
